founded the people-powered organization in 2004 to accomplish four main goals: promote grassroots democracy and bring new people into politics; support candidates and officeholders who tell the truth and stand up for what they believe; fight against special interests; and fight for progressive policies like health care for all, investment in children, equal rights under the law, fiscal responsibility, and a national security policy that makes America stronger.
